Overview
Whisper Rock is the rare desert club whose membership reads like a TOUR media guide. Founded in 2000 with input from Phil Mickelson, the club’s two courses sit on 800 acres of pristine Sonoran high desert in far north Scottsdale. The vibe is decidedly understated: no formal dress code, no tournament fanfare, just world-class golf and a small, loyal membership.
The courses
- Upper Course. A 7,726-yard Mickelson-designed layout that pros use as a tune-up. Long, strategic, and demanding off the tee. Plays through pristine high desert with sweeping Continental Mountain views.
- Lower Course. A Tom Fazio design considered one of his finest desert routings. Slightly shorter (7,236 yards) and more forgiving than the Upper, but the green complexes will still embarrass anyone who isn’t paying attention.
Architects
- Phil Mickelson & Gary Stephenson (Upper)
- Tom Fazio (Lower)
